Learning to Trust

Day after day, the Sponsor made a point to stop by the paddock and the barn to visit Stella. It was tentative visits at first, mostly just muzzle rubs and occasional treats. Eventually, the woman started to actually go into the paddock and stalls, letting the filly play with her clothes and act jovially. Over time, Will would come to the barn at early evening to feed the horses, only to find in Mandy and Stella's stall a slumped sleeping figure with a curled up foal. Although he wanted to play pranks on the pair, Will could tell that this was something they both needed, learning to trust and bond so deeply as this. He often thought of how Mandy and him had bonded in such a manner, learning to trust each other even when they could trust no one else. And so he left them to nap in the evening light.
